The Early Years In
1970
I unexpectedly found myself backpacking overland through SE Asia
at a time when there were no travel
books, internet shops or cell phones .. when a postcard mailed home
took a month to arrive. My boyfriend and I
went to Europe for 3 months. While in Spain, we met a couple with
a map of Asia on their wall that had pins
stuck in a somewhat straight line across every country there was from
Europe to Japan. "You've got to go!" they
said. And off we went! We returned home more
than 3 years later after an endless parade of (literally)
mind-boggling adventures, each one more intense, more insanely and
overwhelmingly surreal
than the last. Each day was confirmation of the body's capacity
to surrender to what is ..
and survive the unknown.
Thirty-five years later I find myself again in Asia .. this time a much
more relaxing experience!
In between, I was blessed with a son who taught me all that I know
about loving. I went to
Art School, developed and directed an art center for severely disabled
artists, was happily
married 4 times .. and matured and evolved in my own uniquely chaotic
way.
Enroute home from an ashram in India in 1997, I visited Koh Samui
in southern Thailand and stayed for 9 years.
Such an unexpected gift, living on the beach in an exotic tropical
island paradise! In 2006 I moved to the
mountain and cultural paradise of Chiangmai city in northern Thailand.
The adventure continues ..
Trainings and Related Life
Experience Meditation, self-awareness In
1987 I attended the first of eight annual intensive 30 day residential
therapy/meditation retreats.
In between, there were vipassana retreats and participation in group
meditation events. Gradually, meditation
became integrated into my daily life. Awareness in
present moment is my current "therapist".
In 1997, during a 3 month stay in an ashram in India, I participated in
a 5 week exploration of painting intuitively
from the unknown .. letting the brush express it/my self, without
technique. The experience was at once
exhilarating and humbling.
Graduate member of the
International Institute for CranioSacral Balancing B.C.S.T. I
received my CranioSacral Biodynamics training from the ICSB
(International Institute for CranioSacral
Balancing)
in Switzerland. The original 900 hour accredited training
plus an additional 80 hour Overview of Pre-natal
CranioSacral Biodynamics and Trauma Resolution was facilitated over 3
years in the Osho Multiversity in Pune,
India where it was combined with an ashram program of daily meditation.

Self-directed studies in
Energy Medicine, Creative Visualization, Quantum Touch and Core
Transformation Living
in
Asia over the past 11 years, without access to western workshops has
required a creative approach to
facilitating ongoing learning. Extensive self-directed studies
through books and DVDs, using my body as the client
and living what I learn, have been my "educators" in Energy Medicine,
Quantum Touch and Core Transformation,
and Creative Visualization.
I am particularly grateful to Donna Eden for her book Energy Medicine and accompanying Video
Workshops and Quantum Touch book and Video Workshops
by Richard Gordon and the QT Advanced Core Transformation Video
Workshops by Alain Herriot.
Founding Director of
EUREKA Fine Arts Center, Vancouver Canada .. an expressive arts
studio
for adult artists with severe disabilities Our EUREKA
Center artists with their extreme, multiple physical and/or mental
limitations, taught me the life
affirming value of spontaneous expression without formal training.
Institutionalized without opportunity for self
expression, these artists discovered themselves in our studio.
Without exception, they developed a deep appreciation and understanding
of who they were, beyond their
apparent disabilities. I watched them grow and evolve as
they experienced themselves as unique, whole,
purposeful beings. They confirmed that intention, in
concert with passion, can overcome virtually any challenge
or limitation. And that creative expression promotes and
provides life-enhancing, healing benefits.
Graduate of Non-Profit
Leadership and Management Program at VCC, Vancouver, Canada When
I
created Eureka Fine arts Center for artists with severe disabilities,
I had to go back to school to learn
how to lead and manage the center as a Non-Profit Organization with a
Board of Directors.
Graduate of Emily Carr
Institute of Art and Design, Canada 1990 My major
was 3D mixed media and sculpture. I particularly enjoyed
site-specific installation. I continue to
maintain a private studio for my own pleasurable expressive dabblings
and a welcome source of relaxation and
inner balance.
As a trained artist, my personal healing journey naturally included
creative expression. Further self-directed
studies introduced me to the concept of playful hands-on workshops
using painting, sculpting and collage as
alternative tools for facilitating healing.
Co-Founding member of B.C.
Art Therapy Association, Canada As
part of a like-minded group of artists, therapists and people with
disabilities, I helped found an association
whose mandate was to encourage a studio approach using art as an
expressive therapeutic tool .. rather than
focusing on the more common, clinical use for psychological evaluation
and diagnosis.
